American Idol Thought:

This has been a thought for a long time but will finally be voiced. I want to know what the producers are thinking by having the people who leave sing the song that got them kicked off. This week the bottom 3 all sang the song that got them there. What sense does it make to sing a bad song AGAIN? If it was bad the first time, it won’t likely get much better. Everyone on the show can sing, but some songs work and when you are in the bottom group then clearly your song didn’t work.

A side note to this is that they drag out the elimination show like no other. I don’t know how anyone watches that show unless they record it.

Me

  • Ladies and gentlemen, it is the best time of the year :)
  • Here is the video of my piece to the Lord’s Prayer. No I didn’t forget stuff all over the place, I was supposed to split it up into different parts. And no I don’t normally talk that slow, I was told to talk slow. In light of all that…now you can watch.

Hey man, I am curious about which aspect of her stance on the emergent church you disagree with…

    Chad-

First off her opinions don’t make me mad or anything, I just think she is putting “emerging” as one big group. So the people who are liberal theologically and biblically have a saying for the whole group of those calling themselves emerging. I guess I am saying that is how I disagree with it. People like Dan Kimball and Mark Driscoll are very reformed theologically and have the highest standing for Scripture, they are merely changing methodology and I think they have voices just as strong within the emerging church as do people like Doug Pagitt and Tony Jones. That is my main disagreement. I think she doesn’t like the liberal parts which I would call Emergent, not emerging. Because the things she disagrees with are coming from that side.

I agree with you in there being a vast difference (upon further study) of the “emerging” church and the “Emergent” church. Driscoll says the same thing. He does NOT lump himself in the same group as the Emergent movement (any more…he used to). Listen to this message I have linked on my blog. It’s long, but I’d like to know your thoughts…

I agree with you Tyler. I was just making sure you weren’t going “emergent” on me… I believe it is necessary for the church to become “emerging” if we want to continue to make the impact we are here to make. However, the emergent church is definitely opening some dangerous doors and we need to make sure we don’t walk through them just to seem relevant.
