Fortuitous Bouncing

Something about singing and worshiping as a church for an extended time just brings joy to my heart. Thanks to everyone who helped make the praise night possible. Also a big thanks to Sovann, who only knows me through this blog and drove 40 minutes to be a part of the night.

For all of you who have written comments the past few days, thanks. Usually I like the respond in some way (email, a comment) but I’ve been crazy busy the past few days. Hopefully you understand.

  • My Twins are only a half game back of the Black Sox (yes I hate them). They’re going to make a good run this year…just trust me.
  • Football starts Sunday…didn’t the Giants just win the Super Bowl?
  • It is about time that baseball has an exciting trade deadline. As much as everyone says the Red Sox got a bad deal, I don’t think anyone realizes how good Jason Bay is.

Thanks for the flippin’ link. It’s nice to see a trackback on this !*%)* morning.

  4. Did Matt just cuss. I’m in shock. I definitely would pull my tithe if He was a Pastor :)

Enjoyed the praise night very much. Heard many good comments from those attending. Thanks to Travis for letting me use his organ. Enjoyed the crowd at McMinnies, too. Quesadillas every time. Hurraaaaaay for Savonn who travelled to Sunset to be with us! I’m tired today, but a good kind of tired.

Thanks for all you do, Tyler ..

Great evening last night. What monkey in the McCain campaign let that video go through. If it hadn’t been on a legit site I’d have said it was really good YouTube material. Also thanks for the links to Singley and Brent. I’ve added them to my blog reading [even with the flipping language issues]

The trade I don’t understand is the Tigers/Yankees deal. Kevin Farnsworth has been, well…not very good at all (when I was at Yankee Stadium in July they boo’ed him pretty badly. They’re mean, but still. They weren’t happy with him at all. Also, how do you spell the past tense of “boo?”) And Pudge Rodriquez has been great for so long…one of the best fielding catchers ever, definitely, and with Posada out for the season, the Yankees need a quality catcher who’ll contribute to the line-up. I just don’t get what the Tigers got out of this deal. I must be missing something.

I’ve given up on my Braves for the year, though. :( That probably makes me a bad fan. I’ll root for ‘em every time…but for the first time, I don’t think they’ll be able to pull it off.

    Hi,

I want to share what I took away from last night (I actually tried to this initially with my wife Julie but it was hard because it was so personal but I’m doing it because I want to encourage Tyler, and everyone who prepared and lead, that for me I appreciate their hard work in creating a space for God to be worshipped and praised and to speak to us).

First, Sunset Pres is an amazing place. Wow, never been there before. (And boy do I wish I could go the LEAD conference).
Second, Tyler’s just about how I thought he’d be – cool (in the good way lol).

Most of all, I sensed God saying to me
“Don’t be afraid. Tell the truth. Don’t be afraid of being weak and vulnerable. I’ve got your heart in my hands so risk and try again. Nothing is impossible.”
this happened when we were singing He tore the veil He made a way when He said that it is done. I asked “What does that mean? That it is done, for me, right now?” And that’s the answer I got – don’t be afraid. Everything you need or are afraid of – rejection, exposure, aloneness – has already been taken care of on the Cross.

“I believe you are all I need.”

I am growing into the truth every day. I hope you are too.

Brent- Yeah I think he did. I guess I’ll have to monitor his comments more closely.

Joyce- You played great last night. Thanks for all the time you sacrificed for us the past few weeks.

Aaron- At this point, I definitely agree.

Alan- Somehow we didn’t end up with a chance to talk last night, sorry about that. Glad you enjoyed it.

Lindsey- That would be “booed” or “boo’d”. I think the trade is legit only because the Tigers were only using Pudge every other day or so. They wanted to drop his contract…and obviously the Yankees could careless about money.

Sovann- Awesome, awesome, awesome. Glad that the Spirit met you in a special way.

Y’all going to McMinns and I wasn’t invited, that is so wrong on so many levels!

That’s cool…just make sure I’m invited to the 2nd Annual Praise night :)

You just have to stick around later on after everything is over. We never make plans until late in the game.

  12. Yonas says:

Yeah, if I didn’t have my folks with me I would’ve stuck around.

    Great job guys!

I just wanted to add that pastors need to get paid (I was going to jump in the conversation in the original thread, but looks like the water is a bit too warm there :) ).
