The Question I Didn't Ask

As I’ve blogged about probably too much now, I saw Shane Claiborne a few weeks ago with Rose. It was my first chance to hear him speak and I was really looking forward to it. You can read some of the highlights from the night HERE.

I guess he ends all his talks with a Q/A time that lasts about 20 or 30 minutes. I contemplated going up to the front to ask my question, but the introverted side of me won out (as it does far too often). So rather than ask him my question I thought I would pose it to you.

Here is the context for my question: from his talks and books clearly Shane feels called to the urban part of cities. He feels called to reach out to the homeless and impoverished in urban situations specifically. And I don’t blame him because clearly the ministry of Jesus was focused on people such as these.

With all that said, my question is this:

Is it possible/Biblical to feel called to the suburbs and the middle class?

Also, just so you know, my blog now has threaded comments. Meaning you can reply to a comment specifically. At the bottom right of each comment is the word “Reply” and you can click there to reply to that comment. It should make navigating through the comments a little easier.
