I should answer this too huh…

Diane being there is a given, so that’s one spot at the table taken.

Going with the total of 4 that’s become the standard here, my other two would be:

Martin Gore (Depeche Mode) – anyone who’s listened to my music would likely recognise he’s a bit of a hero of mine, and his Catholic guilt theology would make for some interesting discussion

Christine Caine – runs the A21 campaign combatting human trafficking. A very normal, humble person that God has used in extraordinary ways. There’s any number of people who I could choose who fit that remit (including lots I’ve “met” online), but Christine is currently top of my fantasy dinner list.

#1: Both of my grandfathers. I never knew them. I know my grandmothers and my parents and just from what I’ve heard, they were awesome men. Would love to see ‘em.

#2: Andy Stanley. This may be a cheat in terms of an answer, but ever since the wife and I’ve been going to North Point, I’ve been a big fan of his approach. Listen to all his podcasts and have read several of his books.

#3: The Beatles (can they count as one?). They aren’t my favorite band, but their legacy in music is undeniable. I’ve been listening to their catalog in chronological order and have just been fascinated by so much of their work.

#4: The wife would be present for this dinner, too =).

Brian McKnight, and I would try to talk him into donating me his vocal chords when he dies and hopefully by then vocal chord transplants will be a reality.

Shaq, cuz I think he is hilarious and I really do want to see how small everything in my house looks with him around.

Maybe Lance Armstrong and ask him how he kept his drive and passion.

First one that popped into my head is David Crowder. I’ve met him, and is so quirky and funny and humble that I think he would make a fantastic dinner guest.

Second one is harder, but I might choose Alton Brown. Besides telling us the history and chemistry of everything on the menu, I think it would totally entertaining to share a meal with him.

Hmmm… I will go with

1) Nelson Mandela – just to talk with him for an hour or two would be amazing.

2) Thomas Sowell – I have a mad crush on an 80-something economist. Go figure. But really, my life would be complete if I get to meet that man before I die.

3) President Al-Bashir of Sudan – I need to know what is going through that man’s head

4) And I would round it our with my dear friend Parker Fitzgerald, simply because he would think it was interesting.

If I could pick anyone in history? Sowell, Lewis, Kierkegaard and Shakespeare.
