Fridays are for New Music

A few weeks ago I posted a song by Brooke Fraser. I call her “The New Darlene.” Her latest album was inspired by her time in Rwanda. One thing she said about her time there has stuck with me. “At first I didn’t want to go there because I knew it would mean having to change me.”

Many of you may remember the movie Hotel Rwanda which depicted the genocide that happened there in 1994. Rwandans called it “the war the world forgot about.” This song, “Albertine” is a response to a girl (named Albertine) she met in Rwanda. PS…fellas, she is engaged.

If you have some time, here is an interview with her talking about the inspiration for the album.

What a touching song, and a lovely young lady.
A nice voice, and a strong message.
    Convicting.
(but, i must say, i am sidetracked by the tongue-ring)
