One of the biggest stories in sports of the last 20 years is Lance Armstrong. He was an average biker before he got cancer. He battled a cancer that was supposed to kill him and beat it. After beating it he went on to become the most decorated cyclist ever. Everybody knows his story.

jon lesterMeet Jon Lester. It is likely you have no idea who he is. Jon grew up in Washington state and has been with the Boston Red Sox playing baseball for the past 3 years. Late in the 2006 season Lester was diagnosed with a rare form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a blood cancer. He missed about a season of baseball as he beat cancer.

Tonight Jon Lester beat the odds. He threw a no hitter.

sometimes going through something difficult and having to fight to live gives people that push to become the champions they are. they train harder and are more determined to be better than they’ve ever been just b/c they were give that second chance. i have A LOT of admiration for Lance Armstrong.

Let’s not forget he also started and won the clinching game of the 2007 World Series. But the no-no is the perfect capper for his comeback. Baseball is awesome!
