How to Celebrate an Anniversary

Rose and I are known to be pretty competitive people. In fact, we are even more competitive when we are competing against each other.

As you know now…yesterday was our 2nd wedding anniversary. So we decided to take up our favorite winter sport once again to celebrate…SLEDDING.

We visited the small cabin that Rose grew up in (her dad actually built it himself). And as we were driving up we saw how well packed the road was and decided it was the perfect sledding hill. I don’t just mean it was fast, because it was REALLY FAST.

Here is the video (embedded RSS readers):

And for good measure, we went extreme tubing last Saturday which was probably even faster than the sledding (because tubes go faster than sleds). Here is a video of that:

Nothing is better than biffing it hard while sledding.

Dude, the first rule of racing in the plastic sled is sitting on your butt. ;-) When you slide on your stomach, your weight pushes down on the front and slows you down.

Believe me…I tried it that way on some practice runs. I couldn’t push well and because it was so slick I slid even more from side to side.

    :) Thanks Aaron.

“biffed”- another term for a massive wipe out.

I loved Rose’s laugh after the sledding wipe-out. Looks like you guys are having a blast in the AK.

okay, so i am now officially jealous. what fun!

And consider me your mentor speaking from 24 years of marriage…

you gained more from losing than from winning! I did however think it was funny that the first time Rose won you had a “video malfunction”. yeah, right.

However, I NEVER LET my husband win even so. I love it when I win. I just hardly ever do!

Looks like a blast and thanks for sharing. When I plan my trip to Alaska you and Rose will ahve to help me.

That is one wicked tubing hill. Makes our little hill at the end of the street look pretty lame.
