There is big difference between knowing about God and knowing God.

Most seminary educations help pastors know more about God.

Most churches services help us know more about God.

Most Christian books help us know more about God.

Most Bible studies help us know more about God.

But all of these things, in and of themselves, don’t help us know God.

Knowing God is something so much deeper and more intimate than that.

Knowing God takes more than just doing a few things.

The greatest challenge I face while going to seminary and working at a church is not just knowing about God, but knowing Him intimately.

so then that changes the pursuit of your life and challenges you, or should, to take time, to find time to know the intimate heart of the Father, for your life, for you heart, mind and ultimately your sanity…taking the knowledge that you gain and applying it, ultimately, will lead to wisdom and a better relationship. just some thoughts this morn

Great perspective shift, Tyler. I also struggle with the balance between knowing about God and *knowing* Him.

Tyler, I actually meant to email you today. I saw that my community retreat leader Ruth Barton, author of “Strengthening the Soul of Your Leadership” and other books like “Sacred Rhythms” will be doing one of The Transforming Center’s retreats right there at George Fox. You should check it out. It will help you focus on knowing God – and her teaching is phenomenal as well, but mainly it’s the practicum that I loved. Life changing and ministry saving for me!
