What Is Your Favorite Coldplay Song?

After spending sometime thinking about Coldplay for the post on Tuesday, I started thinking through all their hits. I’ve been a fan since Shiver and Yellow back when I was a sophomore in high school. They have had almost an endless number of hits but I’ve always had one favorite through the years: The Scientist. Can’t get enough of it.

Really though, I could listen to their album A Rush of Blood to the Head all day long because there isn’t one song on there that isn’t incredible.

I reckon that “A Rush Of Blood…” is still their best album overall – though I love everything they do.

For sheer pop joy (’cause that’s the kind of guy I am), it’s hard to go past “Viva La Vida”, but I whenever I hear “Fix You” I have to stop what I’m doing…and just be.

It’s one of the few secular songs that does that to me.

For some reason, Spies always comes to mind when I think Coldplay. Green Eyes is also a favorite. But if I had to go with my true favorite at this point in time, I would have to say Lovers in Japan.

Politik gets the most plays for me. Love it!

“‘Til Kingdom Comes” is a close second to “Fix You.” “‘Till Kingdom Comes” was on our wedding give-away CD, but “Fix You” is just too perfect to not be on the top.

This is hard. Depending on my mood, either it’s Fix You, Kingdom Come, Lost!, Life in Technicolor (The original instrumental opener, the “ii” version is getting annoying), God Put A Smile Upon Your Face, The World Turned Upside Down, Yellow or One I Love. I suck at deciding.

But I think I can safely say my favorite most of the time is See You Soon. Nobody really knows this song cause it’s only been released on one of their EPs way back in ’99 and on a live DVD. But it’s got a super pretty guitar hook and melody. Just a haunting song in general. Like, the kind of song you shouldn’t listen to in the morning because it will be following you in your head all day, but in a good way i guess.

Great choice Marshall. It just goes to show how many hits they have…because this one is great and still somewhat unknown.

Initially I want to say The Scuentist, but Green Eyes always makes me think of my wife and it’s a beautiful song. I heard that they don’t perform it anymore :(
