If you haven’t heard, there is the big book series called Twilight that is now a big movie series based on the books.

I don’t know the first thing about the books or the movies, nor do I really want to.

BUT, I just had to share this because it is oh so true. You can’t even deny it.

LOL.

dude…i had no idea what all the talk about New Moon was…

New Moon is a delightful movie. It’s great because the girl picks the pale white skinny dude over the tan jacked guy.

Look at the big guns on the mom at the far right. Looks like she can beat some people up!

I think they are well written books with a interesting story line. As far as the fan craze and women over 40 (my age) ,thats a little too much for me. Being a fan, follower or fanatic of anything is not healthy even when it comes to church, religion etc. I found that out the hard way when I was a new christian(early 1990′s) in my 20′s going to a christian cult like church.

I hope people don’t have a problem with Jesus fanatics, because I’m trying to be more of one every day.

The questions is … why do Christian women read the book and go to the movie? I can’t reconcile how one goes with the other. Your thoughts ….

  • http://manofdepravity.com Tyler

Speaking only for myself, it is going a little too far to say that Christians shouldn’t watch or read the books. I have no doubt they probably provide good entertainment. Do I think people could use their time more wisely? Well probably yes. But, it totally depends on the individual whether being involved in the books or movies could cause some sort of stumbling. And the only way to know that is the case with someone is to be in a close relationship with them and have a place to be able to speak into their decisions.

James Dobson speaks on the very issue of being a fanatic and how it effects us psychologically , Christian fanatics often lose touch with reality and I think the bible teaches us to be balanced people. Yeah it sounds crazy to say your not healthy if your a Jesus freak but its the honest truth. For your minds sake research the information.

I understand what you are getting at Valerie, but I know Dobson well enough to know he would never say people shouldn’t be Jesus fanatics. Everything he does in life is because he is a Jesus fanatic.

  • Valerie

I dont believe Dobson is a fanatic. Iam talking about fanatic like losing touch with reality in prayer. Out of body experiences from singing the same lyric in a song over and over, or songs that uplife ourselves not God . Or praying for hours and your mind starts seeing things. I dont think your like that, maybe were misunderstanding each other about being a fanatic. I can understand wanting to be a person who has a great love and respect of Jesus that is very admirable . Peace to you Tyler !!

Have read them. Meh! that will get me in trouble with some people. I read them the same reason I read the Potter books. I needed to know what was influencing those outside of the church as well as quite a few inside the church.

My take on the series… IMHO Bella, the heroine, is a poster child for bad relationship decisions. If you want to push it you might even attach her perchance for such lousy choices on the fact that her parents couldn’t keep it together.

If you have contact with anyone in the culture under 25 you probably should either read the book or be familiar with what happens, once more, IMHO.

    Joyce,

I’m a Christian and I read all the books and saw the movies. I don’t see a problem with the two. I also am a huge fan of Harry Potter.

Now I’m not a crazy Twilight fanatic who has posters of Rob Pattinson in my room, but I enjoy the books, and the movies are entertaining. It’s a good story, that’s all.

Why do you see Christian and Twilight fan as clashing?

  • Carol Bommhardt

I just replied to your comment on Christians reading Twilight, but didn’t reply directly. See my comment towards the bottom. :)
