The Future of Worship

The church has embraced a lot of musical styles when it comes to worship. We’ve gone from a-capella to the organ and now today worship is played in varying musical forms all around the world.

But we’re starting to see a shift based on new technology. This is coming to a church near you very soon and it is clearly the future of worship in musical form:

Come here to watch if you can’t see the video

Yes, I love technology.

I think the only thing that cannot be replaced by electronics is the drums. Electronic drums are the worst invention ever. Watching that video all the instruments sounded legit, except the drums.
But yes, using technology is awesome.

That was great! Thanks for posting this!

I know I am not supposed to judge…but its hard for me to think they are truly worshiping and not thinking they are just so cool using their iphones to lead a worship song. Obviously thats true even with normal instruments…I’ve met enough student worship team members over the years who love their guitars and stage presence more than Jesus.

Call me a luddite or whatever, but while I think it’s cool, there’s also part of me that finds it disturbing.

The technology is amazing! But, I cannot see iPhones as the instruments leading worship. 4 guys sitting on stage looking like they are playing video games. I don’t see it. Maybe it’s my age. Oh, and it’s kinda hard to plug that iPhone in out in the woods during camps.

Surprised that all of you took this so seriously. I thought of it mostly as a joke with 4 dudes who got bored and decided to do something fun.

I don’t actually expect churches to start going this route.

That is simply amazing. I see an iPhone battle of the bands in the making.

    Our God is great!

I think it would be sad to loose age old fingerings for instruments and play everything with our thumbs, but it’s cool too. The only instrument that really can’t be replaced is the human voice.

I’m personally still holding out for the juice harp being used in worship…..highly underrated. :)

electronic drums have no soul (double meaning intended)

    Cool! Thanks for sharing.

It may be kids showing off with the iphones but I’d rather have their performance than no performance. The fact that young adults chose to play a worship song made my day!
