I was looking at some of the headlines today and something caught my eye.
“Rush Limbaugh renews radio contract“
First off, I’ll be honest. I don’t listen to him. I find it odd that he “speaks” for conservative America and yet has been divorced 3 times.
Anyway, enough about my thoughts on him. That isn’t why I’m writing this.
Today it was announced that he renewed his contract.
His signing bonus was $100 million.
His new contract pays him $38 million every year, for 8 years.
This is essentially a $400 million deal.
(and people complain about how much sports figures make)
Well, when you’ve got “brains on loan from God” (or whatever he says), you SHOULD make that much.

I think I’m in the wrong industry.
I don’t listen to him either, but he’s worth every penny to his advertisers.
Oh, and it’s “Talent” on loan from God. Okay, so I used to listen to him. At least his bias is stated up front…
I wish he would come to Sunset and tithe. He could be a good POD.
Probably the best part about this is the post is the picture. If you just signed a new contract with that much $$, wouldn’t you want a picture taken of you with a cigar?

i haven’t seen too many pictures of limbaugh not holding a cigar.
to further clarify, it might be noteworthy that essentially, rush works for himself. he isn’t a hired dj, he owns his own broadcasting company. i believe the contract is basically for what in the radio industry would be called “distribution”.
he appeals to a different generation
