Fridays Are For New Music

My wife asks me to do one of these every week like I used to, but really worthy music only comes out every so often I’m left with doing these only every now and then.

Today: Fiction Family

I know you haven’t heard of them. And if you have, then I would say you follow the music scene fairly closely, especially if you knew about them before this week.

For those of you who are Switchfoot or Nickel Creek fans…this duo is for you.

Jon Foreman and Sean Watkins are the lead men of both of those bands have come together to form their own group. No clue on if this will be their only album, but it is definitely a good start.

Being a big fan of Foreman’s solo stuff and Nickel Creek, this album is a wonderful, wonderful thing.

Here is a good video explaining how the 2 San Diego natives came about doing an album together.

And this seems to be the most popular song off the album so far. Kind of a mix of Foreman’s solo stuff, but his vocals sound a lot more like Switchfoot stuff than his solo stuff which I think is a positive thing in this case.

They’ll be in Portland in less than 2 weeks.

What do you think?

    That is just plain awesome.

  2. Marshall says:

Definitely not in the league of Nickel Creek, but still very good stuff. I think it could of been better but Animal Collective’s new record was released the same day and kind of overshadowed this one… Overall though I think it is a really well written CD.
