My Weekend
Well I’m at Wildhorse Canyon in Eastern Oregon. It is a very rugged and dry area in the high desert of central Oregon, and it is so beautiful in its own way.
The view
The camp (the spot with green grass)
Much of the year Wildhorse is a YoungLife camp, but they also host other camps during the off-season. It is out in the middle of no where. I figure anything is a 40 minute drive from the nearest town named “Antelope” is officially in the sticks. No cell service for sure.
I’m here for my church’s men’s retreat. And I’ll be playing guitar and singing with the band throughout the weekend for all the sessions.
I’ve been excited about going for a while. I haven’t been to Wildhorse since my junior year of high school.
Another reason I’m excited is that Don Miller is the speaker (Don’s blog and Twitter). Don is speaking on his upcoming book on the importance of narrative and story in our lives and in our relationship with Christ.
Don lives in the Portland area and is one of my favorite authors.
Should be a weekend for the books.

Tyler Braun.
Totally … I get to spend it with my wife celebrating 17 yes of marriage together.
wow- randy- congrats! Something to celebrate for sure!
Well babe- I think you definately have me beat- your in the sticks, in a BEAUTIFUL spot, with great people and consistent focus on digging deeper with our Lord….Not to mention- you’ll be chillin with Don Miller! I am bit jealous I would have to say! I have been cleaning toilets, grociery shopping, studying for my final…and in a few hours I go to work. Enjoy yourself- I still can’t believe it’s your first men’s retreat! I love you!
Oh and btw- those pictures are aweseome! I didn’t realize it was so tucked away like that- cool shots!
i think i’m staying home tomorrow…i am doing my weekend partying a day early this week.
That scenery reminds me of There Will Be Blood (I know that was in Cali though)
Currently enjoying our own scenery though – perfect autumn weekend here in Sydney, and we’re making the most of it…once my wonderful wife wakes up…haha
I’m conducting Voices of Hope Choir in a benefit concert for The American Cancer Society and Relay for Life. It’s in Milwaukie. It looks nothing like Wildhorse Ranch there.
Tyler, I love that place. I have been able to spend half a week there in both the spring and fall for the past 5 years and I can’t think of a place where I can hear God speaks to me more. So many great memories. The pictures bring back many faces of men gaining freedom! Awesome.
