Ask Me a Question

2009 October 20
by Tyler

I’m going to start a new series on this blog. I’m not exactly sure which day it will be yet, but it will happen every week once I get started with it.

I’ve never done this before but I’ve always wanted to.

Ask me any question you like and over the next while I will answer them.

(I probably won’t be able to answer every single question asked, but I’ll do my best.)

Just write a question in the comments and then look for the answers to come over the next few weeks and months.

So where do you think God is leading you Tyler? After seminary and all, do you have a sense of what God desires for you to do?

What are some examples of issues that you think a person should have a definite position on? (i.e. not a middle of the road position)

If you were president would you run as a Democrat or Republican?

Do you think bikes should be treated as cars on Portland’s roadways?

    Do you wear the pants?

    How far is too far?

What is Rose’s middle name? What do you love the most about her? Do you think people have a soul-mate? Should single people seek their opposite or someone just like them?

    What was Jephthah thinking?

I think you’re really going to enjoy doing this. I answered 25 questions from my readers back in January, and it turned into such a fascinating project, on many personal and interpersonal levels.

    Anyway, here’s my question:

How has your experience with social media changed your understanding of friendship and community? Or: How do you define “friend” and “community” in an age of social media?

what is one thing you have never told anybody that you want to do before you die?

After reading “I know I have gifts in music but I also am drawn to the discipleship process through the role of spiritual formation.“…

What does it mean to you to be a disciple and what is the outcome or result of this discipleship process you are drawn to?

Question for you, Tyler. Actually, two parts:

What do pastoral leaders (LP, SP, TP, etc.) who have input on the music worship plan formation each week need to know about working with their worship leaders? In short, what is most important for a healthy relationship between pastoral leaders and worship leaders/pastors? (Or, to put it bluntly: what do you wish pastoral leaders would understand/ask/be?)

    The second is the flip-side:
How would you advise a young worship leader to deal with his or her pastoral leaders?

My emphases here are that these “working” relationships must be healthy in that they need to be more personal not just work.
