You Should See the Faces

You should see the faces of people when I tell them that I love watching golf. It is a Saturday and Sunday afternoon ritual at our house.

Of course a lot of golf tournaments can get pretty boring, but if you didn’t watch the US Open today and this past weekend then you don’t know why golf is exciting. The atmosphere at Torrey Pines (just outside of San Diego) was unreal, the storyline was crazy, and some of the shots Tiger made were mind boggling. Some say it was the best golf tournament ever. I don’t think that would be an overstatement. I love watching golf!!!

I had to admit, I’m not always a big golf fan (despite my dad’s best efforts). But I love sports history and I love exciting moments (even in the sports I couldn’t care less about on a normal basis), and the US Open this weekend was incredible. I was literally on the edge of my seat by the end of it today! Unbelievable.

YES!!! I love it. His Saturday back 9 and Friday back 9 (which was really the front 9) were two of the most amazing golf performances I’ve ever seen. He didn’t even play well and blew everyone away.

I loved watching the last four holes but the playoff hole was a little disappointing though don’t you think?? I was kind of hoping for a sweeping putt from right to left to drop from Rocco, similar to Payne Stewart years ago in his win of the US Open.

I hear ya though in the “on edge” feeling. Definitely got my heart racing during the shots on 18!!

i guess i can see what you are saying evan…i just thought the entire tournament was too good that an amazing ending didn’t even matter.

i do not watch golf but i confess it is great to turn on and take a “couch nap” with. All that whispering! Very soothing! :) Anyway, I live with my hubby who watches any and all sports so I know many things via conversations with him and because ESPN is on all the time. We are currently in Monterey, California – he’s working and I’m tagging along since I’m on sabbat and can. We did the 17 mile drive Sunday and drove by all these gorgeous courses, including, of course, Pebble Beach. My father was so impressed. I thought they woule be lovely to walk or ride on, but why ruin it with playing golf? HAHA!

Oh Jan…..golf is what makes that area spectacular. I have family in Carmel (the not as rich part of town)…I would love to visit them.

That was some high-quality golf. Don’t let people’s shock deter you…I’m a rabid baseball fan, and many of my low-brow-football-is-awesome friends think I’m a dork. Whatever.

And how’s this: I like watching Sumo. Yeah, I know.
