My life has featured a lot of new beginnings in the past few months. I live in a new city, new house, and work at a new job. Now that I’ve graduated, I have a new level of freedom with my time. And of course, there’s a new arrival only a couple months away from making an entrance that will certainly bring a whole new level of new to my life.
I think there’s a lot of value in longevity and consistency. But I also see a lot of value in starting over. Sometimes we all need an opportunity to start over.
Think of the benefits that starting over with something can bring:
- The chance to build a new reputation
- The chance to re-prioritize
- The chance to see with fresh eyes
- The chance to gain new skills and experiences
It was with all that in mind that I wrote this a couple weeks ago:
“You cannot change the circumstances and situations of your life unless you’re willing to quit something. At some point, quitting something is the only solution. There comes a point when you need to reshuffle the deck in order for the most important things to be given top priority. You’re able to do plenty of things with your life, but many of them have nothing to do with what God made you for.”
There’s a point to quitting things, especially when life is too full for new beginnings.
Maybe we should practice starting over more often.

I’ll be pretty quiet on this page over the next few weeks. Life has been a consistent chaos over the past few months and I’m looking forward to some rest.
I’ll be back in full force around the turn of the calendar though. And you can look forward to a release of an ebook I wrote on mentoring early next month. More on that in a couple weeks.
