I believe all of us are searching for significance in our lives. We all want to be known and know others. We all want to be loved and accepted. And on some level, we all want to make a difference with our lives.
Everywhere I look I see people on the search for significance, coming up empty time and time again.
Very few of us ever step into the true life God desires for us. Very few of us ever lead lives of significance.
We have a million excuses for why this happens, and honestly, most of them are legit. Life isn’t easy.
I doubt God looks at us, shaking His head, wondering how we messed our lives up so badly. No, I think He’s constantly working on our behalf, helping us move closer and closer to exactly where we need to be. Christ is our advocate, not our parole officer.

Over the past several months I’ve spent an immense amount of time praying about how I sense God wanting to use me—my writing and ministry focus. I’ve focused my thoughts and prayers this way because I believe each of us has a message to speak out into our world. I sense God wanting me to bring out this message of living abundant lives—being fully alive.
Ireneaus, a theologian who lived in the 100s (yes 100s), had this to say regarding how we bring glory to God:
“The glory of God is the human being fully alive.”
We weren’t meant to settle for something less than significant. In fact, we malign God by choosing to pursue a melancholy existence.
I love what Brennan Manning says about our calling:
“We are, each and every one of us, insignificant people whom God has called and graced to use in a significant way.”
This is how I’ll be directing my focus and attention with this blog and my other social media areas. I believe God desires more for us than we often pursue ourselves. And I believe that significant life is a goal worthy of pursuit, even if it will be a difficult journey.
